While training professionals focus on providing people with the skills they need to be more effective, training involves more than learning objectives, instructional design and measuring results. Effective training includes connecting with the audience so that the learning is easily applied and lasts. Incorporating Emotional Intelligence into the content enhances the participants’ emotional connection to what is learned. Utilizing the principles of EI advances the training beyond the training delivery into a much richer and longer lasting continuum of self discovery, application and deep learning.There are four components of EI which can be deliberately incorporated into training programs, especially those designed to enhance soft skills and leadership development:
• Self awareness
• Self management
• Social awareness
• Relationship management
Leveraging Emotional Intelligence into your training can increase your effectiveness and credibility as a trainer and your students will get more out of their learning experience.
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

• Understand the basic principles of EI
• How EI can be incorporated into training design and delivery
• How EI know-how can enhance your effectiveness as a training professional
• How using EI can boost your career


Patricia has spent over 25 years interviewing, hiring and developing professionals in her roles as Human Resources leader for Fortune 200 and Fortune 500 companies. She has a varied industry background including: financial services, customer service, architectural firms, healthcare, sales and service. Patricia holds a B.S.from Iowa State University, has completed graduate work toward an MBA, a Master’s degree in organizational development and is a certified facilitator of Emotional Intelligence. Although she has had a successful career path, Patricia realized a few years ago that she lacked fulfillment and lost the zest she once had for her worklife. Being an avid researcher, she studied Emotional Intelligence and became fascinated with the power and ability to transform her thinking and life. Along the way, she also discovered her career passion: helping people identify and market their unique talents and strengths in order to land their ideal career.
